"In the realm of transformative facilitation, the most profound shifts arise not from what we do, but from the embodied presence we bring to the group."

Practices for Embodied Intimacy & The Relational Field
With Rachel Rickards
When a group of humans gathers, something begins to form between us.
It’s subtle at first, almost unnoticeable, and then suddenly it’s everywhere. In the way people are breathing, in the quality of attention in the room, in the unspoken sense of contact that starts to build.
People begin to feel each other. Not just conceptually, but in their bodies. There’s a softening, or sometimes a charge. Longings come closer to the surface. Something real and truer starts to move.
And every now and then, something appears that feels larger than any one of us, and yet it only exists because we are here together, willing to meet.
This is what I call the Field.
And this training is devoted to deepening into a direct, lived relationship with that.
Facilitating The Field
Â
This is a one-week version of The Field Facilitator Training. And because of that, I’m choosing not to try to cover everything.
I’m choosing to go all the way into what I know most intimately, what I’ve spent years living, refining, and transmitting through my work.
The heart of this week is transmission.
Not as a concept, but as something that happens through the body, through presence, through the quality of contact we’re able to create with ourselves and with each other in real time.
We will be working with practices that open embodied intimacy in a direct and immediate way.
Practices like Belly2Belly, Primal Play, Attuned Aliveness, and more relational explorations that bring people out of the mind and into the body, into breath, into sensation, into contact.
These are not things you perform or get right. They are entry points into a different state.
A state where the body begins to relax, where the breath becomes a little more natural, where the edges between self and other soften just enough that something like connection becomes inevitable.
And when that happens collectively, something else begins to organize the space.
There is a kind of coherence that forms. A field that feels alive, responsive, intelligent in its own way.
Often, it feels like love, but not the kind we try to manufacture. Something much simpler, and much more honest than that.
It's not the what, but the HOW.Â
Â
At the level we’ll be working, facilitation is no longer primarily about what you do.
It’s about how you are holding, and how you are transmitting.
Your state of being is not separate from the room. It is shaping it, constantly.
Your capacity to drop into your body, to notice what is actually happening in you, to speak from that place, to stay connected even when things become uncomfortable or unclear… this is the work.
Again and again we return to very simple movements.
From mind into body.
From tension into relaxation.
From isolation into connection.
And we learn how to guide others there, not by instructing from the outside, but by including ourselves in the process.
Letting our own experience become part of what is informing the space.
This kind of facilitation asks for a different orientation to leadership.
Â
Less about control, more about relationship. Less about performing or knowing, more about listening and responding.
You are not outside the group directing it. You are inside the field, in contact with it, sensing what is happening, allowing yourself to be informed by that, and then offering something simple and clear back into the space.
Sometimes that looks like a single sentence. Sometimes it’s a pause. Sometimes it’s naming something that’s already there but hasn’t yet been spoken.
Over time, trust begins to build. Not because you are perfect, but because you are actually here.
What I care about most is that the spaces we create allow people to relax enough to be real. Not performative vulnerability and also not intensity for its own sake. But a kind of grounded aliveness where people can feel themselves, feel each other, and begin to explore what becomes possible from there.
From that place, connection doesn’t have to be forced. It starts to happen on its own. And when that happens in a group, it changes the entire quality of the space.
This training is for facilitators and space holders who can feel that there is something more available in the way we gather.
Something that isn’t about more structure, or more technique, but about a deeper level of presence and relational intelligence. People who are willing to slow down enough to actually feel what is happening, and to let that inform how they lead.
This Training Starts October 2026
If you have a strong YES! to being part of this training, you can begin the application process today to secure your place in the training. Alternatively, join the waitlist to stay in the loop until you're ready to apply.Â
By the end of the week, what you will have is not just an understanding, but a lived experience of what it means to guide from your body.
You’ll have a clearer sense of how to bring a group into connection, how to work with simple practices that open intimacy, how to track what is happening in the field, and how to respond in a way that feels grounded and real.
But more than anything, you’ll leave with a deeper trust in your own presence, in your timing, in your sensing and intuition and in your ability to meet what is actually here.
There is something very simple at the center of this work and also something that asks a lot. It asks you to be here. To feel. To stay in relationship, even when it would be easier to check out or move away. To let yourself be impacted by the spaces you are holding and to discover what becomes possible when you do.
Some of what we’ll be working with
Â
- Embodied leadership — learning how to guide from your body, your presence, and your direct experience rather than from an idea or technique.
- Your body as the instrument — developing the ability to sense, track, and respond to what is actually happening in you and in the room.
- Creating relational depth — guiding Belly2Belly and practices like that to bring immediate connection, relaxation, and intimacy into the space.
- Speaking to the body — using simple, precise instructions that land experientially rather than cognitively.
- Tracking the field — reading breath, sensation, and relational dynamics to understand what is opening, closing, or needed.
- Working with aliveness — including primal play and attuned interaction as ways to access truth, expression, and real contact.
- Creating coherence without control — supporting the natural intelligence of the group rather than forcing outcomes.
- Staying present in the unknown — building your capacity to respond in real time as the space unfolds.
- Transmission — refining your ability to create a felt sense of safety, openness, and connection through your presence.
- The Group Heart — understanding how a relational Field forms, and how to stay in contact with it as it evolves.
The Format of the Week
Â
This is an experiential training.
Which means you won’t be sitting and learning about this work from a distance. You’ll be inside it.
We’ll move between teaching, practice, and real-time facilitation.
There will be moments where you’re receiving, moments where you’re guiding, and moments where we slow everything down and look closely at what is actually happening.
Â
You can expect a weave of:
Teaching that gives you orientation and context
Embodied practices that bring you directly into the work
Relational labs where you explore connection in real time
Guided facilitation practice with feedback
Space for integration so what opens can actually land
This dance between the facilitator and the mystery of “the field” is a kind of collaborative love-making. The role of a Field Facilitator is to put yourself in service to this emergent form. This training is carefully designed to enable you to do exactly that.

The Facilitator

Rachel Rickards
Rachel Rickards is an international leader in the field of personal transformation, intimacy, embodiment, and relating. She is a group facilitator extraordinaire, event producer, and a new mother.
In 2014 she co-founded Embodied Intimacy, which has become one of the most respected organizations globally that offers trainings and events focussed on intimacy, trauma, relational intelligence, somatic education and community. The work of Embodied Intimacy supports hundreds of people each year to come home to themselves, to their body and more regulated nervous systems, and become more of who they truly are.
Since 2019, Rachel has led the Belly2Belly Facilitator Training after her teacher and mentor, David Cates, passed the torch and CEO position for this work to her. Belly2Belly offers a simple and yet profoundly healing set of embodied and relational practices, which support people to learn to regulate their nervous systems in a way that can be transformational for their relationships. Rachel has single handedly produced and facilitates most of the events with her extraordinary superpowers in the field of event planning and depth in embodied leadership.
Rachel’s newest passion project “The Field Facilitator Training” launched in 2022. This is a revolutionary new experiential learning environment for upcoming group facilitators who are passionate about creating fields of deep group-heart coherence and learning how to facilitate group soul emergence. This requires the development of radically new facilitation skills, such as learning to listen to the group field, collective surrender to the moment, as well as dynamic and fluid collective leadership to support the blossoming of the group soul that is longing to emerge in the space between us.

When presence permeates, it generates a field of love.
That field of love is what we are in devotion to. That is what’s creating all the Magic.
